The Chester Rotary Club met July 24 at the Chester Eagles Club, where the featured guest speaker was Gary Hamm, Rotary District 6510 governor.

Hamm spoke to the members about his 2019-2020 theme, "Superheroes," and since he is a resident of Metropolis -- the home of Superman -- Hamm proudly displayed his Superman T-shirt under his dress shirt and tie.

He talked about the Rotary International President, Mark Daniel Maloney, whose theme for his term is "Rotary Connects The World."

A Rotary goal for 2019-2020 will be increasing Rotary membership districtwide, as well as giving individual clubs the opportunity to conduct business more toward meeting the needs of their members, all while focusing on the sustainability of the organization.

At the meeting, members discussed the upcoming district convention in Mount Vernon on Nov. 1 and 2. Gov. Hamm spoke about the many service-oriented activities that will take place at the convention and encouraged club members to be active in Rotary Foundation work.
