Chester Grade School has four new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year and Katie Kelley is one of them. She was born in Waterloo, Illinois to parents Kerry and Kathy Kelley.
In Waterloo she attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and then Waterloo High School, where she was active in the FFA and Honors Society before graduating in 2007.
Kelley attended Southwestern Illinois College and then transferred to Eastern Illinois University, graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Teacher's Certification.
Kelley went back to Waterloo where she did substitute teaching and worked for the Monroe County Farm Bureau as the Agriculture classroom coordinator.
This fall Chester Grade School welcomes Kelley to the junior high, where she has begun teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies.
In her spare time, Kelley enjoys taking pictures and spending time with her nieces and nephew.
