Chester Women's Club hears about Mississippi flood of 2019

The Chester Women's Club held its regular monthly meeting at the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 25. Hostesses were Joan Derringer, chairwoman; and Andrea Costilow, Carole Abernathy, Collette Powley and Patty Dean.

The guest speaker was Liz Norrenbernes of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who spoke on the Mississippi River flood of 2019.

The business meeting was conducted by First Vice President Nikki Aubuchon. Mary Ann Stumpe reported on recent and upcoming activities at the Chester Public Library. New members in attendance were Donna Clendenin and Sherry Holley.

Members made cash donations to the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry and the Chester Fire Department.

All in attendance were reminded that the club's Christmas luncheon will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Chester Country Club. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Friday, Nov. 22 meeting.

The program on Friday, Nov. 22, "Happiness For Dummies, Life Lessons From a Dog," will be presented by Behesha Dean of Extreme K-9.

Members are urged to attend. Hostesses will be Toni Hosick, chairwoman; Ruth Rowley, Emily Lyons, Pat Nanney and Brenda Williamson.
