A 22-year-old Sparta man was ticketed for driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no seatbelt after a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff"s Office crash report, Jonathan G. Hill was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on Zion Church Road and exited northeast onto an unnamed access road.

The Silverado then traveled 222 feet east before running off the road on the left-hand side. The vehicle continued an additional 125 feet before striking a ditch and began to overturn.

The Silverado was stated to travel 119 more feet before striking a tree and coming to rest facing south/southeast.

Hill and his passenger, 20-year-old Katie Hill, also of Sparta, were both ejected in the crash. Jonathan Hill was taken to Sparta Community Hospital, while Katie Hill was transported to St. Louis University Hospital.

Jason Merrill, public relations relations manager with SLU, told the newspaper on Monday that Katie Hill was treated and released. The condition of Jonathan Hill was not immediately known.

The accident was reported at 2:40 a.m.
