One dead in motorcycle accident

Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff has confirmed that one man is deceased in Saturday's accident at the intersection of Shawneetown Trail and Chester Road involving a white sedan and a motorcycle.

A female rider on the motorcycle was airlifted from the scene. The female driver of the sedan was not transported via ambulance.

The intersection remains closed until further notice and first responders are awaiting an accident reconstructionist from the Illinois State Police. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is handling the crash.

No names are being released at this time. The Herald Tribune will have further information as it becomes available and this story will be updated.

The accident was reported at 12:03 p.m.
