One of Chester's signature businesses is on the block.

In a June 25 Facebook post, the owners of Benson's Wine Bar announced that due to relocation, Benson's would have to be put up for sale. During a Facebook conversation with the Herald Tribune, Benson's co-owner Lauren Reiman stated her husband and co-owner, Micah, was recently promoted and that prompted the decision to relocate.

"Micah has been promoted with the company he works for and with that comes a relocation," Lauren said. "We will be leaving the area and felt it is for the best to try and sell Benson's so someone could have the opportunity to purchase and continue to serve great wine and spirits to the community."

The Facebook post - which noted Benson's would stay open and in operation through Oct. 15 - states the Reimans are willing to sell just the business (which includes naming rights, inventory and equipment), the business with the building, or just the building itself.

"We have a price in mind that we feel is extremely fair with the sole purpose of keeping the business open for the community," the post states.

Lauren was asked if they had received any interest in the property.

"We have two parties thus far that we feel are serious potential buyers," she said.

Benson's Wine Bar opened in 2014 at 1308 Swanwick Street, the former location of Benson's Store for Men - a clothing store from which the wine bar gets its name.

In the years since its opening, Benson's has hosted numerous "tap takeovers," popular bands and also partnered with Mary Jane Burgers and Brew for a pop-up restaurant in 2016.

"We have had several fond memories and experiences," Lauren said. "Some of our favorites are Tap Takeovers, musical performances and private parties we have hosted.

"Overall, the best memory was bringing an establishment like Benson's to the community."
