A 37-year-old St. Mary's, Mo., man was fatally injured late Friday night on Kaskaskia Island.
According to the Illinois State Police's preliminary report, Christopher Grass was driving a 2015 Polaris Ranger northbound on Bond Road, near Common Field Road when Gass reportedly lost control of the vehicle and went off the left side of the roadway.
The ATV then overturned, ejecting Grass in the process. Grass was pronounced dead at the scene by Randolph County Coroner Carlos Barbour.
When contacted by the Herald Tribune, Barbour said he wasn't sure if the vehicle rolled over on top of Grass as a result of the accident. The crash was reported at 11:20 p.m. and is under investigation by the Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
