Chester School Dist. 139's new nurse is a former student at both Chester Grade School and Chester High School.

Nikki Maue began her duties at CGS and CHS at the start of the second semester. Maue is the daughter of Patty and Randy Hoffman of Ellis Grove.

Nurse Nikki accepted the position when it became available after "Nurse Amy" Eggemeyer resigned to take a new position at Memorial Hospital of Chester.

Maue attended Chester Grade School -- where she graduated in 2001 -- then completed her high school diploma in 2005.

"In grade school and high school I was primarily interested in sports and music," Maue said. "I played volleyball and softball and enjoyed playing in the CGS and CHS bands."

After graduating from CHS in 2005, Maue went to Southwestern Illinois College, where she had a softball scholarship. She graduated in two years with her Pre-Nursing Degree after which she transferred to Southeast Missouri State University College of Nursing where she earned a Registered Nursing Degree in 2011.

After graduation, she worked at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau as a nurse in Pediatrics in the NICU/OB areas. She worked there until accepting the position in Dist. 139.

She is married to Luke Maue of Chester and the two of them have a 2 year-old baby boy, Blake. In her spare time, she enjoys "family time" and reading. She also likes to run when time permits.

"The staff at CGS has been very friendly and welcoming. The kids are really sweet," she said. "I adore the children and love all of the hugs. I just like being around kids."
