Randolph County voters elected Sparta resident Melanie Johnson the new Randolph County Clerk, choosing her over Democrat Bobby Klausing Tuesday night.
With all 37 precincts reporting, Johnson defeated Klausing of Sparta 5,613 to 4,174, according to unofficial vote totals from the clerk's office.
Johnson, a Republican, will replace Democrat Pat Laramore, who did not run for re-election after serving four terms in office.
In the other county races, incumbents were poised to be re-elected to office. Incumbent Sheriff Shannon Wolff soundly defeated Republican challenger William Gibson 7,154 to 2,619,
In the race for treasurer, incumbent Democrat Justin Jeffers held off a challenge from Republican Deborah Hoelscher, 5,231 to 4,490, while Randolph County Commissioner Marc Kiehna had a sizable lead over Wayne A. Voss 5,645 to 4,150.
