Sting staff triumphs in school newspaper contest

The Chester High School Sting won the Digital Blue Banner Award at the Southern Illinois School Press Association Winter Conference Feb. 27 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Members of the staff won six other awards for individual excellence. Berrimand Breeden won first for cartooning and Emarre'a Bell took second in the same category.

Chester also swept the multi-media category. Melody Colonel won first; Jaci South and Andy Bryant shared second; and Mallary Vasquez, Cordy Stirnaman and Chris Schwier produced the third place entry.

South also took a third for home page design.
