• CHS Girls Volleyball: Away games at Goreville, varsity at 7:30 p.m.; JV at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 20

• CHS Yellow Jacket Football: 7 p.m. away game as the 1-2 Jackets go to McLeansboro to take on the Hamilton County Foxes.

Saturday, Sept. 21

• "Pass The Paddle": 6:30 p.m. at the Chester Public Library, 733 State St. The Rev. Jerry Schumm discusses his memoir, "Pass The Paddle: Mississippi Dreamin' Come Hell or High Water," about his journey down the Mississippi River from the headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minnesota, to New Orleans. "It was an excursion like no other. Jerry never paddled alone. Friends and family members signed up for 'legs' of the river.
