The Red Cross Blood Drive hosted on May 13 by Memorial Hospital in Chester was held at the Chester Grade School cafeteria.

Julie Gustafson, Red Cross account manager of donor recruitment said she appreciated how the Chester community came together to find a location for the May blood drive.

"The grade school proved to be a great place to host the drive," she said.

Twenty nine people came to donate, and of those 27 were able to produce usable units of blood, which bested their goal of 25 units.

The Red Cross hosts a blood drive each month in Chester. Odd months are hosted by Memorial Hospital and even months are hosted at the American Legion.

The next drive will be held June 17 at the American Legion. All donors at that drive will receive a specially-designed Cardinals T-shirt.
