The Sparta City Council is getting a do over. Monday the council approved an ordinance in hopes of solving a problem created years ago when erecting a new street.
It has since been learned that the street crosses private property. To come up with an equitable solution, the council is proposing a swap of some city owned property at W. Main and Hillcrest, thereby settling accounts with Darin and Rhonda Weakly.
The ordinance sets up a public hearing on the matter in accordance with state laws. The public hearing will be held Monday, December 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Sparta City Hall in conjunction with a scheduled council meeting.
In other business, the council approved a building permit for John Goddard to build a carport at 518 W. Broadway,
The council’s next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, December 14 at 7 p.m.
