TRAIN ACCIDENT UPDATE

According to the Illinois State Police, David Schnur,55, of Elkville was driving westbound on Water St. when he pulled into the path of a Union Pacific train. The semi-truck that Schnur was driving overturned and hit a parked semi-truck. Schnur suffered minor injuries and was taken to Chester Memorial Hospital. He was ticketed for disobeying a railroad crossing signal and for not wearing a seatbelt. The accident is currently under investigation by the Illinois State Police.

The engineer of the train Mike Edwards,44, of Waterloo; conductor Anthony Foster, 45, of St. Louis and passenger Charles Whisler, 36, of Belleville all were not injuried.
