Janet Kay Mehrer, 58, of Chester, IL, died July 9, 2010 at St. Ann’s Healthcare Center, Chester, Illinois.
The daughter of Elmer Edward and Viola Mae (Draves) Mehrer, she was born on September 7, 1951 at Chester, Illinois. She was never married.
Janet had worked as a Correctional Clerk for Menard Correctional Center.  She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Chester; V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3553, Chester; Chester Eagles Aerie #3252; Illinois Police Association; and was an AFSCME retiree.     
Survivors include her mother    of Chester, IL; one brother, Gene (Barbara) Mehrer of Chester, IL; two nephews - Adam (Jennifer) Mehrer of Chester, IL and Allen (Doris) Mehrer of Monroe City, MO; one  great niece, Adrian Mehrer of  Monroe City, MO; one great nephew, Nathan Mehrer of Monroe City, MO; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer “Pete” Mehrer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois with Rev. Ed Rowley officiating.  Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Chester or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
