That the Chester High School boys golf team has been on a roll is an understatement. Now 4-0 on the season, the most impressive win was the latest, at the annual Chester Invitational Tournament. Until last week, Chester has not won its own tournament since 2015.

The Yellow Jackets outshot seven other teams for the victory and three golfers finished in the Top 5. Chester's undisputed top golfer, Jarrett James, was the tournament champion.

Eight teams played the 18-hole match at the Chester Country Club: Chester, Sparta, New Athens, Red Bud, Murphysboro, Steeleville, Trico and Zeigler-Royalton.

The Yellow Jackets finished with 326 strokes and were led by the junior James, who shot 70 on the day and won by four strokes over Trico's Eddie Brees (74).

Chester junior Jaden Mott, who shot 80, and senior Chett Andrews, who shot 83, finished in the Top 5 for the tournament.

Sophomore Kaden Freytag shot 93, freshmen Chance Mott shot 98 and sophomore Luke Miller shot 99.
