Steeleville defeats Chester

In high school boys basketball action last week Steeleville posted a 74-32 win over Chester. The Warriors were determined to put the game away early as they jumped out to an 18-2 lead within the first several minutes. Steeleville continued to pull away thanks to a combination of a balanced offensive attack and some crucial turnovers by the Yellowjackets.
 Leading scorer for the Warriors was Torrey Geberding, who came off the bench to drain four three-point shots and finish with 14 total points. Colin Smith and Nick Potter each put in 13 points, Coire Reel had 11, Andrew Pokrzywinski scored nine, Josh Diercks had eight and Jeremy Wilson, Jacob Combs and Joey Wittenbrink each added two points. Reel had nine rebounds and Diercks led in steals.
For Chester, Zach Lochhead scored 12 points, Aaron Grah had seven, Brett Barthol and Carlo Marconi put in four points apiece, Dan Adams had three and Matt Chandler added two. Chandler and Lochhead were the leading rebounders for the Yellowjackets.
