Sparta High School sophomore Trevor Morgan has advanced to the Country Financial Three-Point Showdown, which will take place this weekend at Carver Arena in Peoria. In the sectional semifinals at Herrin on Wednesday Morgan made nine of fifteen three-point baskets, which tied him for first and advanced him to the sectional finals. On Friday Morgan made six shots, which was good enough for fourth place and a spot at state.
In the preliminary round on Thursday, Morgan will be competing with 31 other shooters from Class 2A schools throughout Illinois. The top four finishers will shoot for the championship between games of the state tournament on Friday night.
