Cross country bicycle riders Bridgett Connolly and Brandon Alexander stopped in Chester on Aug. 2 on their way across the United States.

The duo left Virginia Beach 37 days ago and hope to finish their journey in Oregon sometime later this summer. Bridgett graduated college in May and Brandon, who graduated in 2018, is in-between jobs currently and both decided it was perfect time to see the country before beginning the next chapter in their lives.

After arriving in Chester at 1 p.m., Bridgett and Brandon set up camp at the "Chester Dugout Motel" better known as the dugout at the Chester Recreation Complex softball field No. 3. After some sight-seeing around Chester and rest and relaxation, the two enjoyed dining cuisine at the Chester Domino's.

Following a good night's rest, Bridgett and Brandon departed the friendly confines of the Cohen Complex and continued with a 65-mile trek to St. Louis as their Monday ride.

Both bikers enjoyed learning about several Chester highlights, especially Popeye the Sailor Man, and promised to send a post card once they arrived at their destination in Oregon.
