Gary Deon Mayberry, age 66 of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Gary was born on Jan. 18, 1953 in Terra Haute, Indiana to the late Darnell and Rosalie (Coseboon) Mayberry. Gary was an Army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War where he served as part of a heavy artillery company.
Gary was a house painter and worked many years for Williams Painting.
He loved to fish, especially catfishing, camping, and being outdoors. He loved country music and had a great sense of humor, always telling jokes. He was a good father and was loved by all that knew him.
Gary is survived by a son, Jamie (Sonya) Mayberry of Sturgis, Kentucky; daughter, Della White Wall of Owensboro, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; brother, Charlie Mayberry of Carrier Mills; sister, Janet Faller of Harrisburg; sister, MaryAnne Mayberry of Harrisburg; sister, Linda Gidcumb of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Larry, Donald and Kenny.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Reed Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
