Robert "Bob" McClellan Pigg, age 92, of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his residence.
Bob was born on May 28, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Denman Pigg and Ann E. Vice. He married Doris M. (Buttrey) Pigg on Sept. 15, 1950 and she passed away on Jan. 8, 2020; they enjoyed 69 years of marriage together.
Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked as a railroad machinist and retired from Penn Central.
Bob was a hard worker and a great provider. He felt like "His work was never done." He was a longtime member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church, the Harrisburg American Legion and formerly the Harrisburg Eagles. Bob loved gardening, hunting and fishing, particularly fishing on Lake of Egypt.
Bob is survived by four children, Robert E. (Sandy) Pigg of Benton, Illinois, Alan W. (Margaret) Pigg of Anna, Illinois; Connie (Kenny) Nolen of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Richard Pigg of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Lori Ann (Tom) Tedeschi, Robert Justin (Starla) Pigg, Adam (Sara) Nolen, Kaci Nolen (fiancee Derek Dillon), Jennifer (Adam) Eastman, Christopher (Nicole) Pigg, Benjamin (Jill) Pigg, Capt. Jason (Jessica) Pigg, and Autumn (Josh) Watson; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Denny Pigg and Jack Pigg, both of Terre Haute; sisters Nancy Holten and Treena Huey, both of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sisters Betty Edmonson and Joan Childers; and brothers Larry Pigg and Donald Pigg.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Dr. Blaine Welker and Rev. Chris Wilson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army, the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Boys Town, and envelopes will be available at the church.
