CHS golfers Hasemeyer, Mott, Andrews advance to IHSA boys sectional

The Chester High School boys golf team closed its 2021 season Sept. 29 at the Anna-Jonesboro Regional Golf Tournament. Three Yellow Jackets advanced to sectionals as a result of their scores at Regionals.

The Chester boys finished 4th with a score of 357, just missing advancing as a team to Sectionals by four strokes.

Anna-Jonesboro won the Sectional Match with a low score of 329 followed by Steeleville (2nd, 335); Frankfort (3rd, 353); Chester (4th, 357); Trico (5th, +78); Du Quoin (6th, +90); Goreville (7th, 381); Vienna (8th, 394); Eldorado (9th, 408); NCOE (10th, 412); Zeigler-Royalton (11th, 420); and Gallatin County (12th, 446).

Junior Chance Mott led the Jackets with a score of 85. Junior Gage Hasemeyer followed with a score of 87. Junior Clayton Andrews finished 3rd out of the five Chester boys with his game of 88 strokes. All three Yellow Jackets qualified to advance to the 2021 IHSA Sectional Tournament.

Rounding out the Chester results were seniors Kaden Freytag (97), and Luke Miller (101), and sophomore Lucas Thompson (108).

"We must say goodbye a pair of seniors that have meant so much to this program," Head Coach Chris Toledo said. "Thank you Kaden Freytag and Luke Miller for all of your hard work the past four years. We will miss you guys!"
