MHS boys take second at Mascoutah Sectional

MASCOUTAH -- The Marion High School boys track team took second place at the IHSA 2A Mascoutah Sectional last Wednesday, advancing several events to the state finals.

Senior Bryson Wilson took third in the long jump with a leap of 6.84 meters. Wilson and teammates Hayden Lees, Sean Hudspath, and River Doss also claimed the top spot in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:26.38. Wilson also claimed the sectional championship in the 400 meter run with a time of 49.76.

The 4x800 relay with Lees, Hudspath, Logan Morgan, and Meykye Lomax took first with a time of 8:07.23.

Kane Carter will advance in two events after taking third place in the shot put with a throw of 15.21 meters as well as third place in the discus with a toss of 46.66 meters.

The Wildcats will send two pole vaulters to state. Senior Colin Beers took second place, clearing 4.57 meters while sophomore teammate took fourth, clearing 3.96 meters.
